Let Your Spirit Run Free
Learn to Ride
From the first lesson students learn how to properly catch, groom and tack up their horse. Ground safety skills are taught and reinforced to every student to ensure their time at the ranch is a safe and fun. In the saddle we focus on control and balance as the student progress in confidence and skill.
Every new student is asked to attend a 'meet and greet' prior to setting up a permanent lesson time, This 'meet and greet' is for the benefit of both horse instructor and new rider: for the rider this is an opportunity to see where the ranch is located and what the training environment is like so that they can make plans accordingly when it comes to their lessons. It helps SpiritHorse instructors determine the level that the new student is starting at so that they can properly match up a horse and instructor combination that will work the best for the student.
SHRC also offers a riding team for intermediate and advance students of all ages to test their skills in a competition setting. Whether the student chooses to ride English or Western, barrels or jumping we strive to make each show experience a fun and educational.
In addition to participating in local shows we also offer a 4-h program for children ages 9-18. 4-H is the nation’s largest positive youth development and youth mentoring organization, empowering six million young people in the U.S. We use the 4-H program to help build self confidence through competition and community service.
So whether you have dreamed about learning to ride all your life or you know a horse crazy youngster we look forward to meeting with you at the ranch.
